Sacramento, CA – Following the California Employment Development Department’s (EDD) release of the state’s employment data from January, the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, Lenny Mendonca issued the following joint statement with California’s Labor Secretary, Julie A. Su:
“The numbers, as surveyed mid-January, showed 119 months of job growth and an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent. Currently, we are monitoring the economic impacts of the coronavirus very closely, as are all Californians, the nation, and the world. The State is committed to making sure employees and businesses have updated information and resources to ensure public safety and business resiliency. In this fluid environment, we are taking extra steps to make sure California’s workers and employers are aware of programs like State Disability Insurance, Unemployment Insurance, Paid Family Leave, paid sick leave, workplace health and safety standards, technical assistance and loan programs for small businesses. To review these resources and more, visit the GO-Biz and Labor and Workforce Development Agency websites.”
