Sacramento, CA – Following the California Employment Development Department’s (EDD) release of the state’s employment data from June, the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, Lenny Mendonca issued the following statement.
“California’s economy continues to show strong signs of growth with the unemployment rate staying the same at a near record low of 4.2 percent, and employers adding 46,200 nonfarm payroll jobs, accounting for approximately 21 percent of the nation’s total gain. The length of our expansion is now at 112 months — one month shy of our record expansion in the 1960s. With the budget recently signed by the Governor, we are preparing for all future scenarios and continue to look at a broad set of data to determine the health of our economy for all Californians.”
